Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has expressed serious concerns over terrible increase in load-shedding in the province of Punjab. As a result of prolonged load-shedding, people of Punjab were getting perturbed and restless, he added.
He was presiding over a special meeting of cabinet committee on load-shedding management emergency, here on Monday. The meeting was attended by Advisor Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Secretaries of Energy, I&C, Housing & Public Health Engineering, Home, Finance, Information, Irrigation Departments, AIG Operations, Director Local Government & Community Development, Chief Executive Officer Punjab Power Development Company and other concerned officers.
Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that due to poor planning and incompetency of federal government, the duration of load-shedding in the cities and village of Punjab had reached upto 14 to 22 hours daily, as a result of which people were strongly protesting and its responsibility fell entirely on the federal government. He said load-shedding, especially at the times of Sehr and Iftar, had made the life of fasting people miserable.
Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa ordered the police authorities present in the meeting to chalk out a well-co-ordinated strategy to safeguard public property as well as persuade demonstrators to hold their agitation in a peaceful manner. The meeting was informed that as a result of prolonged load-shedding, the seasonal workers had been deprived of their livelihood, due to which many problems were resulting.
