Provincial leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have expressed grave concern over the excessive power outages in different party of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and announced to launch organised campaign against it. Addressing at a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Monday, the PTI provincial activist, Asad Qaiser said that the province is facing 15 to 18 hours unscheduled load shedding.
He said that the electricity shortfall is hovering from 10,000 MW against the official figure of 5,000 MW. Flanked by party leaders and activists, he accused that ANP government had failed to launch a mega project to address the growing energy demand in the province. In the prevailing situation, he added that the trade and economic have adversely affected, but the rulers are least bother to pay attention towards the issue.
He said that ANP-led coalition government had not fulfilled its commitment that it will provide 100 free electricity units, and address the other key issues confronting the province. "Rulers are busy in their vested interest and accumulating money through commission", he maintained. Asad Qaiser said that the situation is heading toward civil disobedience in the entire country, due to indifferent attitude of the present government, added that we need to launch new mega hydro power project to meet to the growing energy need in the country.
"I assure that PTI would devise both short and long term strategy to address the major issues confronting the country particularly power crisis, if it would come to power", he reiterated. He said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had the capacity to generation 75,000 MW electricity, but it didn't happen due to least attention of the incumbent rulers. He informed that he will call a meeting on 2nd August, in which they will decide future course of action to launch an organised campaign against the excessive load shedding in the province.
