ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported eight months’ highest coronavirus infections over the past 24 hours, with a positivity ratio of 10.15 percent as 4,368 cases were reported after 42,418 tests were conducted.

The Covid-19 data released by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC) revealed, a total 42,418 tests were conducted across the country, on Thursday, of which 4,368 retuned positive.

In Punjab, 17,315 tests were performed, in Sindh 8,506 tests, 8,214 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) 6,733, in Balochistan 699, in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 637, and in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) 314.

Over the past 24 hours, the country reported 63 deaths, taking the national death tally to 14,091, whereas 2,170 recoveries were reported taking the national recoveries tally to 591,145, which is 95 percent of the total infections.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Pakistan, the country so far has reported, a total of 645,356 cases which include the deaths, recovered and under treatment Covid-19 patients.

Sindh is on top with 264,062 Covid-19 cases followed by Punjab 207,765 cases, the KP with 82,677 cases, the ICT with 54,347 cases, Balochistan with 19,427 cases, the AJK 12,095 cases, and GB 4,983 cases.

Since outbreak of the Covid-19 in Pakistan, according to the NCOC, the country has reported 14,091 deaths. Punjab with 6,142 deaths is on top of which 43 died in the past 24 hours, followed by Sindh with 4,486 Covid-19 deaths of which four died in the past 24 hours, KPK with 2,260 deaths of which 14 died in the past 24 hours, the ICT 555, one of them died in the past 24 hours, the AJK 340 deaths of which one died in the past 24 hours, Balochistan 205 deaths, and GB 103 deaths.

Over the past 24 hours, out of 63 Covid-19 patients who died, 60 were under treatment in hospitals, and three of them died at their respective quarantines or homes. Punjab and KPK at present are the most affected regions by the pandemic as out of 63 deaths, 43 were recorded in Punjab and 14 in the KPK. Of the total 63 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, 22 of them died on ventilators during their treatment. At present, Multan with 65 percent ventilators occupancy is on top, followed by the ICT with 62 percent, Gujranwala with 60 percent, and Lahore 54 percent.

The maximum Oxygen beds (alternate oxygen providing facility other than ventilator administered as per medical requirement of the Covid patient) was also occupied in four major areas of Gujrat 95 percent, Gujranwala 85 percent, Peshawar 73 percent, and the ICT 49 percent. Around 380 ventilators were occupied elsewhere in the country, while no Covid affected person was on ventilator in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and Balochistan. A total of 9,976,791 corona tests have been conducted so far, while 631 hospitals are equipped with Covid-19 facilities. Some 3,333 corona patients were admitted in hospitals across the country.
