Balochistan issue: special committee to present final proposals to Cabinet: Kaira
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Tuesday that special Cabinet Committee on Balochistan would present its final proposals to the Federal Cabinet after holding discussions with all stakeholders.
Talking to APP here after the meeting of the special committee here, the minister said that the committee headed by Defence Minister Syed Naveed Qamar deliberated upon different dimensions of Balochistan issue with special focus on administrative political and fiscal factors. He said that process of consultations with all stakeholders was going on and the committee would meet in Quetta on Thursday to hold consultations with stakeholders.
He said that the committee was meeting on day-to-day basis and it would meet again in Islamabad tomorrow. Kaira said that the committee was making all out efforts to complete its report before next cabinet meeting. To a question, Kaira said that after coming to power the PPP government announced "Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan" package to end deprivation of people of the province and most of its points have been implemented. The Information Minister in the meeting asked the participants representing various security forces and civil administration of the province to share their opinions, perspectives, views and observation without any reservations.
He said that step would have to be taken to curb incidents of violence and resolve issue of missing persons. He said one the objectives of the committee was to also see as to why the desired results could not be achieved so far despite the fact Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan has been implemented and under new formula of NFC award the province had benefited considerably.
