There is need to devise strategy based on timelines to develop IT sector, says PM

(Karachi) Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that a comprehensive road map should be launched in order to spearhead the development of the information technology (IT) sector in the country.
Chairing a meeting on the promotion of the IT sector in Islamabad Monday, Imran directed the authorities concerned to devise a short, medium, and long-term strategy based on timelines for the development of the Information Technology (IT) sector.
He said it is need of the hour to implement the strategy at the earliest.
The PM emphasized that Pakistan has immense potential in the IT sector, which needs to be optimally tapped for fulfilling the country’s domestic requirements as well as exporting IT-related products.
He said the young Pakistani population will get maximum advantages from promoting the neglected IT sector of the country.
Underlining the importance of building Special Technology Zones (STZ) in the country, he said the establishment of STZs will play a pivotal role in the development of the IT sector.
PM Khan said various challenges have emerged during the pandemic; however, it has also created countless opportunities for IT professionals to work from home.
