The livestock sector can swing the wheel of national economy if the department as well as private sector formulates the dairy, poultry and meat policies. This was stated by former Secretary Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh at an Iftar-cum-dinner hosted by University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha on Tuesday evening in the honour of outgoing Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department (L&DDD) Secretary Hamid Yaoob Sheikh and incumbent Secretary Irfan Elahi.
Hamid Yaqoob said that there was a policy gap in livestock sector and needed to be addressed. He said that the department and the university were collaborating in terms of capacity building and professional training in the field officers.
