Hasan Mehmood single handedly destroyed the National Bank's batting line-up by taking 5 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs as State Bank beat the formidable defending champions National Bank of Pakistan by 66 runs in the Advance Telecom 2nd Corporate T20 Cup 2012 at DHA Sports Club - Moin Khan Academy on Saturday.
After winning the toss SBP chose to bat and were all out for 151 runs in 19.4 overs. Naveed Yasin batted well to score 60 in 44 balls. He smashed 3 sixes and 5 fours in an innings of maturity. Off spinner Irfan Uddin took 3 wickets for 31 runs.
In reply the NBP team were skittle out for 85 in 16.3 overs mainly due to some magnificent fielding by the State Bank of Pakistan team. Opener Nauman Ullah of NBP made 28 runs, the only batsman to reach a reasonable scpre. Hasan Mehmood who took 5 wickets for 25 and two outstanding run outs was the obvious choice for the coveted award of Man-of-the-Match. Defending champions National Bank are out from the tournament now and they will play their last match against Omar Associates.
Legendry all-rounder Wasim Akram was the chief guest for the match. He said that this kind of activity will play a major role in bringing back international cricket to Pakistan. Rehan Shaikh, Head of Marketing Advance Telecom presented a Nokia handset and memento to the former Test captain as token of appreciation.
