Secretary General Jamaat-i-Islami Liaqat Baloch expressing his profound grief over the loss of lives due to stormy rains in Punjab has demanded of the government to pay compensation to the affected families.
Addressing an Iftar party held here at Shah Kamal, he criticised the provincial government for not making proper arrangements for monsoon season. "The very first rain of Monsoon in Lahore has shattered all the tall claims regarding fool proof arrangements. Many people took iftar on the way to home due to the worst traffic jam," he added.
He said the government should take proper measures in order to avoid any untoward situation due to the rain.
The JI leader criticised the federal government for not providing proper relief to the masses and demanded for an early election, what he said, to save the country. He was of the view that the government made an insult to the nation by enacting Contempt of Court Law 2012 which had been declared null and void by the apex court.
He said the prime minister had to choose between writing a letter to the Swiss authorities or leave like his predecessor.
