National Industrial Parks Development & Management Company (NIP) is incorporated under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984 to foster focused industrial growth by developing world-class industrial parks in the country.
The objectives of the company include supporting focused industrialisation in the country by developing new industrial parks and rehabilitate the existing ones as designated. The overall concept is to facilitate entrepreneur to operate in conducive industrial environment aiming at increased investment enhanced productivity contribution to the GDP and creation of skilled and unskilled employment in the country.
The company has embarked on its mission to establish 03 Industrial Parks viz Korangi Creek Industrial Park & Bin Qasim Industrial Park in Karachi and Rachna Industrial Park in Lahore. NIP has also been appointed as Project Consultant to Marble City Risalpur; a project of PASDEC and Khairpur Special Economic Zone; a Government of Sindh Project. Recently the Federal government has assigned NIP the task to develop an Industrial Park in Sargodha.
The Korangi Creek Industrial Park, Karachi, spread over 250 acres, is envisioned to be the first world-class industrial park in Pakistan.
The KCIP project has been designed by M/S Jurong, Singapore, Pte Ltd., renowned internationally for their expertise and wide experience in this field whereas M/S NESPAK has been given the responsibility for architectural design, engineering services and supervision of this project.
The project has acquired Environment Impact Assessment from Sindh Environment Protection Agency. Salient features of the park include an uninterrupted power supply through a 48 MW dedicated power plant, effluent treatment plant, enhanced level of security through a boundary wall with controlled entry and exit, internal patrolling, transport hub, masjid, waste collection and disposal, plantation and horticulture maintenance, vocational centers, commercial center, medi-care center and a facilitation centre for entrepreneurs.
The park has been designed with the basic concept of strategic industrial clustering. Garments, Light Engineering, Printing and Packaging, Consumer Food & Pharmaceuticals are the main classified clusters. An area of white site is designated to accommodate spill over and other allied industries not being catered in any cluster.
Another unique feature of NIP industrial parks is strict adherence to the Terms and Conditions of allotment of plots which eliminate the element of speculation in real estate. Plots are allotted through a pre-determined transparent scrutiny process after receipt and evaluation of business feasibility report to ensure that only genuine entrepreneurs committed to establish, operate and run their industrial set-ups in the prescribed time may avail the opportunity.
Moreover the allotments plots are non transferable to any other business, trade or entity before completion of the project for which the plot was allotted. The park aims to attract investment from small / medium enterprises, providing them excellent infrastructure facilities. The project is envisioned to bring PKR 20 Billion direct investment, contribute PKR 40 Billion to the GDP and generate direct employment for 30,000 individuals.
2) Bin Qasim Industrial Park (BQIP)
NIP has entered in an Agreement with Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) for development of an Industrial Park on 930 acres allotted land the Down Stream Industrial Estate.
-- The Bin Qasim Industrial Park, spread over an area of 930 acres near Port Qasim, adjacent to Pakistan Steel Mills, Karachi has been designed to cater the needs of medium and large entrepreneurs aspiring to invest especially in the engineering and downstream steel industry. The project will facilitate Auto & Allied industries in Light Engineering, Foundries, Steel Fabrication, Pharmaceutical, Processed Food, Warehousing and Logistics clusters. All utilities including Water, Power, Gas, Telecommunications and effluent treatment plant are an integral part of the project. Another salient feature of the park is multi-tiered security within the confines of Pakistan Steel Mills, industrial estate, monitored entry and exit, security management, waste collection and disposal, plantation and horticulture maintenance commercial center, medi-care center and facilitation centre for the entrepreneurs.
The project is envisioned to bring PKR 50 Billion direct investment, contribute PKR 100 Billion to the GDP and generate direct employment for 50,000 individuals.
3. Rachna Industrial Park
Rachna Industrial Park is spread over 174 acres on land acquired by NIP on the Lahore-Sheikhupura road. The Park will cater to manufacturing, assembling, warehousing and packaging besides other auxiliary industries in addition to a technical training centre. All utilities including Water, Power, Gas and Telecommunications are an integral part of the project. All amenities essential to a world-class, modern industrial facility including one-window operation and estate management will also be available to investors. In addition, a Technical Training Centre will be set up in the Industrial Park. The project is envisioned to bring PKR 3.0 Billion direct investment, contribute PKR 6.0 Billion to the GDP and generate direct employment for 20,000 individuals. The project has held a public hearing for the Environment Impact Assessment and acquired NOC from Punjab Environment Protection Agency. The Company has a sizeable data of industrialists interested in building their factories in the park. The Industrial Park shall cater to manufacturing of automobiles vendor industries, OEMs, heavy and light engineering and its allied industries, pharmaceuticals, textile, plastics and food.
