All the 15 candidates of the Businessmen Group (BMG), lead by Siraj Kassim Teli has been declared elected unopposed as members of managing committee of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) for two years. While the group has nominated Haroon Agar former Vice President of the chamber as its candidate for the seat of President for the year 2012-13. The Election Committee of the Chamber had received only 15 nomination papers, against 15 vacant seats of the managing committee till last date of August 6.
It is worth mentioning that the managing committee of KCCI comprises of 30 members and out of then 15 retires every year. However the managing committee elects office bearers for one year. After wining of all the 15 seats of managing committee the way is cleared for the group and it is expected that BMG will grab all the three seats of office bearers of KCCI for the year 2012-13 unopposed. Election of President, Senior Vice President and Vice President will be held on September 27, and Annual general meeting will be held on September 29.
As Chairman of the Businessmen Group (BMG), Siraj Teli is recognized for his extraordinary leadership of the Business and Industrial community over the past 19 years and his group winning all the seats unopposed in KCCI elections since last 6 years.
According to unofficial results those who are declared election unopposed as member of managing committee includes Mohammed Haroon Agar, Zafar Saeed B.P, Abdul Jabbar Dalal, Alamgir A. Shaikh, Asif Iqbal Bega, Muhammad Arif, Anis Memon, Muffasar Atta Malik, Mohammad Saqib, Shahzad Mobeen, Jahangir Shahid, Farhan Hanif, Abid Nisar, Mansoor Sulaiman and Zahid Iqbal.
Members of KCCI said that the transition to a new governing body of the chamber could be a time of heightened challenges for them. They said the next governing body must make efforts to resolve growing economic challenges along ever increasing cost of manufacturing, cost of doing business, worsening law and order condition, increasing fuel, electricity and gas tariffs.
Leader of BMG Siraj Kassim Teli has advised business members of KCCI to serve every members of business community without discrimination. Referring to law and order condition, he expressed concern over worsening law and order situation in the city and said that business can only flourish in better working atmosphere. Siraj Teli said that "By the grace of Almighty Allah, BMG has been winning all the elections without losing a single seat for the last 15 years and during the said period this is the sixth consecutive term when all our candidates have been elected unopposed in KCCI.
He said that 15 years of success in a row is an acknowledgement of the public service by the Businessmen Group which also testifies that the overwhelming majority of Business and Industrial Community endorses the policies of BMG because they understand and believe that BMGians are serving them selflessly for their betterment. He hoped that the new BMG's elected representatives will make all efforts in espousing the cause of business and industrial community and to further enhance the status of public service which is the motto of BMG.
