Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Monday presided over a meeting regarding establishment of Trauma Centers, maternity homes and schools in Lyari and other issues of Lyari.
The meeting was attended among others by Faryal Talpur MNA, Abdul Qadir Patel MNA, Senator Saeed Ghani, ACS (P&D) Israr Malik, Secretary Education Alamuddin Bullo, Secretary Health Aftab Ahmed Khatri, Project Director Lyari, Special Secretary Finance, Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed, Principal Lyari Medical College Dr Iqbal Memon, Medical Superintendent Lyari General Hospital and others.
The meeting discussed over all problems and issues of Lyari particularly the health and education problems faced by the inhabitants of Lyari. The Chief Minister directed that Trauma Centre being constructed at Civil Hospital be completed before December 2012, while another Trauma Centre will be established at Lyari General Hospital.
Regarding various posts lying vacant in Lyari Medical College, it was decided that the same will be filled early after fulfilling the legal requirements. A committee comprising of elected representatives of Lyari will monitor the process. Regarding construction of building of Lyari Medical College, the meeting approved the allocation of Rs 400 million reflected in the ADP, while an amount of Rs 200 million will be released immediately.
It was also informed that a summary has been floated for allotment of 200 acres land so as to upgrade the status of college up to University level. The Chief Minister Sindh also directed Secretary Health Sindh to examine the proposed plan of Post Graduate status.
Administrator KMC informed that there were five Maternity Homes and 51 schools being run by KMC in Lyari. He said that Maternity Homes and dispensaries were being upgraded and renovated which would be made functional within few months. Chief Minister Sindh directed Secretary Education that education and health facilities be extended in Lyari, while other facilities will also be provided.-PR
