The Karachi Port handled 47,893 tonnes of cargo comprising 22,092 tonnes of import cargo and 25,801 tonnes of export cargo including 2,626 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 22,092 tonnes comprised of 14,799 tonnes of containerised cargo; 280 tonnes of general cargo; 6,001 tonnes of coal and 1,012 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,801 tonnes comprised of 16,102 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10 tonnes of general cargo; 4,289 tonnes of bulk cargo: 443 tonnes of cement; 3,846 tonnes of corn and 5,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. A total number of 2,626 containers comprising 1,175 containers import and 1,451 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The brake up of imported containers shows 311 of 20's and 427 of 40's of loaded while 10 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 471 of 20's and 294 of 40's loaded containers while and 162 of 20's 115 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. Six ships namely Lantau Arrow, Jolly, Vishva Bandhan, Yoma-6, Oriental Ruby and Han Spirit with two container ships, two bulk cargo ships, one oil tanker and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Five vessels viz Hyundai Confidance, Bruno Schulte, CPO Japan, Oriental Marguerite and Keitum carrying two container ships, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Three ships namely Hyundai Confidance, Ema Querida and Keitum carrying one container ship, one chemicals carrier and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely Caravel Pride and Bruno Schulte with two container ships are expected to sail on Wednesday. A container vessel viz Caravel Pride due to arrive on Tuesday, while four vessels viz Tessa, APL Brisbane, Eships Maya and Admire Coral carrying two container ships, one mogas carrier and one general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 54,860 tonnes comprising 26,980 tonnes of import cargo and 27,880 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,265 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 26,980 tonnes includes 10,936 tonnes of palm oil; 8,892 tonnes of chemicals; 654 tonnes of bitumen and 6,498 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,880 tonnes includes 10,307 tonnes of cement and 17,573 tonnes of containerised cargo. A total number of 1,265 containers comprising 342 containers import and 923 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
Two ships namely CV Maersk Wyoming and MT Strilen sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while another ship namely MT Bum Chin is expected to sail on Tuesday afternoon. A total number of six vessels viz CV Maersk Wyoming, MV Fisher-D, MV Hawk, MT Bum Chin, MT Strilen and MT Asphalt Merchant are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, palm oil, chemicals and bitumen respectively during last 24 hours. As many as three ships namely CMA CGM Ravel, Nedlloyd Hudson and Anoushka with containers and cement respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of five vessels viz CV CMA CGM Ravel, CV Nedlloyd Hudson, CV Deira, MV Keltum and MT Glory carrying containers, project cargo and chemicals are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal (MW-2) respectively on Tuesday. An urea carrier namely MV Coral is due to arrive on Wednesday.
