ISLAMABAD: Pakistan, Friday, reported highest surge of Covid-19 cases of the past two months as the country reported 4,537 cases after 58,203 tests were conducted with a positivity ratio of 7.8 percent.
According to Covid-19 data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the coronavirus cases in Pakistan during the fourth wave are rapidly surging and the number of active cases have once again crossed 60,000 mark and reached 62,723.
Last time the country on May 1, 2021 has reported the highest single-day case count, when the country recorded 4,696 cases.
According to the NCOC, in the past 24 hours, 1,489 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease taking the nationwide recoveries tally to 938,843 since the pandemic outbreak.

Out of 86 coronavirus patients who died during the past 24 hours, 82 were under treatment in hospitals of which 50 died on ventilators, and four of them breathed their last at their home quarantines. Sindh and Punjab reported most of the death in the past 24 hours.
At present, a total 3,575 coronavirus patients were admitted in various hospitals, 3,117 patients were under treatment in critical care units (ICUs) of which 33 of them were admitted during the past 24 hours in various Covid-dedicated healthcare facilities across the country.
The ventilator occupancy has once against crossed 300 level as on according to the NCOC, there were 304 ventilators occupied across the country, while no Covid-affected person was on ventilator in Balochistan.
Islamabad with 37 percent ventilator occupancy was top city among the four cities with the maximum ventilators occupancy followed by Lahore with 20 percent, Peshawar 18 percent, and Karachi 18 percent.
Karachi with 53 percent oxygen bed occupancy was on the top among the four cities with the maximum oxygen beds occupied followed by Abbottabad 38 percent, Gilgit 37 percent, and Islamabad 33 percent.
Out of 58,203 tests conducted countrywide, on Thursday, 20,475 tests were carried out in Sindh, 17,510 in Punjab, 10,091 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), 3,484 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 4,689 in Balochistan, 1,090 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and 864 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

Out of the total 1,024,861 cases detected in Pakistan since the coronavirus outbreak, Sindh with 377,231 cases is on top followed by Punjab with 355,483, KPK 143,213, ICT 86,945, Balochistan 30,162, AJK 23,819, and GB 8,008.
Nationwide, a total 23,295 coronavirus deaths have been reported since the outbreak of Covid-19.
Punjab with 11,019 Covid-19 deaths is on top of which 24 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours followed by Sindh with 5,947 deaths of which 44 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, KPK with four deaths of which nine died in the past 24 hours, the ICT with 799 deaths of which two deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, the AJK with 622 deaths of which two deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, Balochistan with 327 deaths of which one died, on Thursday, and GB with 137 deaths, of which four died in the past 24 hours.
A total of 15,936,674 corona tests have been conducted so far, while 639 hospitals are equipped with Covid facilities across the country.
