At least four persons including an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement were killed and five others sustained injuries in separate incidents of violence at various parts of the metropolis, here on Saturday. According to police and rescue sources, unidentified armed riders fired two bullets in the head of a 28-year-old man, whose identity was yet to be ascertained in the limits of Kharadar police station.
The incident took place at Kakri Ground near Kamil Gali where unknown armed men brought a man, whose hands were tied with ropes, on a bike and fired two shots on his head. Resultantly, he died on the spot while the culprits managed to flee in leaps and bounds. Police said the mobsters of Lyari gangsters were involved in this murder, adding that they kidnapped him from unknown place and after severe torture, they shot him dead at the said place. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) and later moved to Edhi morgue for identification.
A 20-year-old man namely Abdul Qadir was killed while four others were injured in an armed clash between two groups of Awami National Party (ANP) over a business dispute near mini market located in Defence Phase II in the limits of Baloch Colony police station. Police said the members of both groups had initially charged each other with batons and later opened indiscriminate gunshots on each other that led to killing of Qadir and injury to Owais, Farman, Abdur Rauf and Abdus Samad.
All the victims were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) while LEAs detained some nine persons including five armed men from the spot. Later, miscreants reached JPMC and resorted to heavy firing in the air to vent their anger over the death of one of their companions that caused panic and created chaos in the hospital.
Following the said incident, police and Rangers rushed to the hospital and brought the situation under control after taking three more person into custody. SHO Ishaq Lashari said both groups - Abdus Samad group and Owais Khan group were associated with ANP. He added that they were doing water tanker business.
Meanwhile, another armed clash was triggered between two rival political groups at Usmanabad and Cheel Chowk that left an MQM worker Fareed, 25 son of Nizamuddin killed and Faraz, 26 injured. Police said the deceased, who was the resident of Usmanabad, Garden area, was active worker of MQM Unit 19. Police said Lyari gangsters were involved in his murder.
Later, LEAs nabbed four suspects from the spot and shifted them to unknown place for interrogation. A 55-year-old Anchar son of Hood Khan was killed when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on him outside his residence in Wazir Goth in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station.
Police said the victim might have been murdered over personal grounds. Further investigation was under way. Similarly, 26-year-old Mansoor Baloch, son of Muhammad Baloch received bullet injuries in Napier police jurisdiction while Faraz son of Saleem, Raju son of Jangi, Abu Bakar son of Abdur Rehman and an alleged Lyari gangster Shahid Baloch sustained bullet injuries at Liaquatabad, I I Chundrigar Road, Pehlwan Goth and Pak Colony area, respectively.
