FAISALABAD: SSP Punjab Highway Patrolling Police Mirza Anjum Kamal is committed to implementing the new ban imposed by the Punjab Government and NCOC from September 6 to 11 to curb the growing epidemic of Covid-19.

He directed the staff to strictly enforce the restrictions imposed by the Punjab government and NCOC.

He appealed to the people coming on the road to protect their lives and the lives of others and to be careful not to leave the house without any compulsion and if you are going anywhere due to any compulsion, the rules also ensure compliance with SOPs. He said that anyone found violating road rules or Covid-19 SOPs should be stopped immediately and laws and SOPs should be enforced and appropriate action should be taken if legal action is required against anyone. Mohammad Rizwan Bhatti, in-charge mobile unit, said that it was mandatory to use a mask, clean hands frequently with sanitizers and avoid going to crowded places. Keep a distance of at least 6 feet. SSP Punjab Highway Patrol Mirza Anjum Kamal said that Road safety is all about creating awareness about the safety of road users. Impatience and recklessness cause accidents on highways, he added. The workshops and seminars are important tool of inculcating road sense and education about traffic signs, right of way, maintaining of safe distance, and hazards of over speeding and use of mobile phone during driving. Most of the fatalities occur due to human error. He emphasised that road safety awareness is essential to reduce accidents and prevention of fatalities on roads. He appreciated the performance of Incharge Mobile Education unit, Muhammad Rizwan Bhatti for creating awareness about the sensitive subject of road safety precautions.

Incharge MEU told that in the month of August, 2021, he visited 30 academic institutions, 19 Patrol pumps, 19 Banks, 14 villages, 13 Union councils, 14 Hospitals, 28 Goods Transport, 35 Commercial Markets, 34 Bus/Rickshaw stands, 33 public places, 32 road shows, 4 awareness seminars, pasted 970 stickers on vehicles and distributed 12,350 Pamphlets among citizens and road users to create awareness about Road safety and mobilisation to fight against deadly Pandemic.

He further emphasised that awareness about road safety rules is a continuous process to save precious lives of commuters. Road safety is all about creating awareness about the safety of road users either they are pedestrians, two wheelers or four wheelers. Impatience and recklessness cause accidents on highways.
