KARACHI: As many as 5 more patients of Coronavirus died in Sindh province overnight, lifting the death toll to 6,960, while 1,016 new cases emerged when 16,642 tests were conducted.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Sunday said that five more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives, lifting the death toll to 6,960 that makes 1.6 percent death rate.
Shah said that 16,642 samples were tested which detected 1,016 cases that constituted 6.1 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 5,629,247 tests have been conducted and as many as 437,973 cases were diagnosed; of them 87.3 percent or 382,648 patients have recovered, including 1,000 overnight.
Sindh CM said that currently 48,365 patients were under treatment; of them 47,481 were in home isolation, 838 in different hospitals and 46 patients in Isolation Centres. He added that the condition of 739 patients was critical, including 66 shifted to ventilators.
Out of 1,016 new cases, 335 were detected from Karachi. As many as 108 cases were found in Hyderabad, 100 in Karachi East, 93 in Karachi South, 55 in Karachi Central, 51 in Badin, 46 in Mirpurkhas, 41 in NawabShah, 36 in Tando Allahyar, 35 each in Sujawal and Sanghar, 32 in Kambar, 31 each in Thatta and Malir, 30 in Jamshoro, 29 in Karachi West, 28 in Tharparkar, 27 in Korangi, 26 in Tando Muhammad Khan, 22 in Naushehro Feroz, 21 in Matiari, 8 each in Dadu and Jacobabad and 7 cases in Larkana.
