HYDERABAD: The Indonesian consul general (CG) in Karachi Dr June Kuncoro Hadiningrat on Monday visited the University of Sindh Jamshoro and called on the Vice-Chancellor Prof (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro.

Both the leaders exchanged views regarding academic linkages, faculty exchange and research collaborations between the University of Sindh and Indonesian Universities.

Speaking on the occasion, the SU Vice-Chancellor DrKalhoro shed light on the University education system, curriculum, facilities, research activities, MoUs signed with different international varsities especially in Malaysia and China and number of the students studying at Sindh University.

He said that SU had seven additional campuses in Hyderabad, Dadu, Badin, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Thatta and NaushahroFeroz and it housed more than 30 thousand students.

He expressed gratitude to Indonesian consul general for visiting the institution and said that the Indonesian consulate in Karachi must take steps in bringing his country's top varsities for memorandum of understanding so that the collaboration in the field of research might be initiated.

On the occasion, Dr June highly appreciated the blend of teaching modern sciences and technology at Sindh University and said that he would try to bring close the Indonesian Universities to SU for academic and research collaborations.

He said that Pak-Indonesia relations were strong while cooperation between the two countries will continue and also grow further in the field of higher education and research.

Later, the CG along with the Vice-Chancellor paid a visit to the Institute of Art & Design where they jointly inaugurated the photo exhibition which was arranged by the students on the eve of defence day in a bid to pay glowing tributes to the martyrs of the war of 1965 and to mark the day. The exhibition included digital as well as hand made paintings of the 1965 war heroes.

Consul General Dr June went around different sections of the institute, where he was briefed in details about the paintings, photography and textile related designs.

He later visited SU's Area Study Centre where Dr Mahesh Kumar Khatwani welcomed the guests. His delegation consisted of Consul for Trade and Economy Djumara Supriyadi, Consul for Information and Socio-Culture IbnuSulhan and Treasurer Anggara Pranashakti.

Chairman Department of Sociology Prof Dr Hamadullah Kakepoto, Dr Ahmed Ali Brohi, Additional Registrar Abdul Majeed Panhwar, Prof Saeed Ahmed Mangi, Prof. Naimatullah Khilji and others were also present on the occasion.

It may be noted that Dr Hamadullah Kakepoto facilitated the visit of the Indonesian diplomat.
