LAHORE: The Complaints Verification Cell (CVC) of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) received a total of 43,120 complaints related to alleged corrupt practices, misuse of authority and cheating public at large during the last four years.
According to the documents, the NAB Lahore CVC wing received a total of 43,120 complaints related to alleged corruption, misuse of authority and cheating public at large during the last four years. Of them, 42,249 complaints have so far been disposed of.
As per the documents, the NAB Lahore region received a total 45,314 complaints from 1999 to 2016 and of them 44,495 had been disposed off during this period. It revealed that there is 300 percent increase in receiving of the complaints as compared to that received in the past. Currently, the NAB Lahore is seized with 1,690 complaints.
The annual breakup of the disposal of the complaints showed that the CVCs received 5,964 complaints in 2017 and cleared the backlog of 6373 complaints. Likewise in 2018, the NAB received 10,197 complaints from which 9,305 were completed.
In 2019, a total of 14,003 complaints were received from which 10,648 were finalised and cleared. During the last year in 2020, the CVCs received 5,016 complaints and cleared up 9,485 complaints, including the backlog.
In the current year, the CVCs have so far received a total of 7,940 complaints out of which 6,348 have been completed.
The documents say that verifications of 1038 were completed from 1062 CVCs in last four year. However, a mere 2,648 complaint verifications were authorised from 1999 to 2016, from which 2,540 were processed.
The year-wise comparative analysis of the complaint verification process showed that in 2017, a total 257 CVCs were authorised out of which 261 were completed. In 2018, a total of 326 CVCs were approved by the competent authorities from out of which 280 were completed. Likewise in 2019, the bureau approved 243 complaint verifications out of which 257 were treated. In 2020, a total of 151 CVCs were authorised out of which 169 were completed, including the backlog. During the current year, 85 complaint verifications have so far been authorised out of which 71 have been completed.
