The mid-August hot and humid weather turned very pleasant on the Independence Day after scattered rains in many cities and towns across the country enabling the people to celebrate the day in a befitting manner. Hundreds of thousands youth came out on the roads with their silencer less bikes to enjoy the weather and celebrate the Independence Day. Families thronged the parks, open spaces and restaurants in the evening for Iftar parties and exchange of greetings.
It may be added that Pakistan is celebrating its 66th Independence Day this year in the holy month of Ramazan. It is a happy coincidence that sixty five years ago Pakistan came into being in the same holy month on 27th Ramazan-ul-Mubarik. According to Meteorological department, 44 millimetre rain was recorded at Lahore Airport on Tuesday, Mandi Bahauddin 34mm, Mangla 33mm, Jehlum 25mm, Kotli 20mm,T.T.Singh and Chakwal 09mm, Islamabad(Saidpur) 12mm Noorpur Thal 15mm, Palandri 09mm, Daulatnagar 08mm, Parachinar 03mm, Shorkot 02mm, Nawabshah, Mohen-jo-Daro and Kakul 01 mm (each).
Met office said rain/thundershower also occurred in Hazara, Rawalpindi, Lahore Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan during past 24 hours. It said seasonal low lies over Balochistan with its trough extending eastwards. Monsoon currents are penetrating in upper and central parts of the country. Isolated rain/thundershower is likely in upper Punjab, Bahawalpur, Hazara divisions and GB/Kashmir on Wednesday (today). It said that mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country during next 48 hours, however isolated rain/thundershower likely in upper Punjab, Hazara, Bahawalpur divisions Kashmir and GB.
