ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has rejected the sharp rise in prices of petroleum products.

“Petrol price has risen by Rs5/litre. “Khan Sahib when will the nation witness the good days. Imran Khan has robbed the people by bringing petrol price to the highest level in the history of the country. When the values of the dollar and petrol are at the highest level in history, everything is out of reach of the people,” he said in a statement Thursday.

“Where did those big claims of providing relief to the people after the budget go,” the PPP chairman asked the prime minister.

Bilawal said that those who came to power by lying about providing cheap petrol are defending it today despite the prices of petroleum products being the highest in history.

'Govt robbing people': Bilawal criticises hike in fuel prices

“Billions of rupees collected from increase in prices of petroleum products will be squandered by this incapable PTI government in corruption,” the PPP chairman concluded.

Meanwhile, Central Information Secretary Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians and Member National Assembly Shazia Atta Marri said that we reject the increase in the prices of petroleum products and there is no precedent for the increase in the rate of inflation in the last three years.

Addressing a news conference on Thursday, she said the PPP rejected the recent price hikes in the petroleum products, due to this, the inflation rate would go up.

She added that the high inflation rate is unprecedented during three years of the PTI’s government, while the present government of Imran Khan is oppressing the people by inflation.

She said today, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Asad Qaisar, ordered to close the Press Gallery during the joint session of the National Assembly and said that the press gallery was closed after consultation with the Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA).

She said that elected members of the PRA denied the statement of speaker National Assembly, adding such a complete blackout is a regrettable act of the incompetent Niazi government.

“This is the first time, the Parliament’s press gallery has been closed and it was not closed even during the regimes of dictators in the country,” she said.

Massive hike in POL products’ prices

She said that how is it possible that Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry was unaware about the closure of National Assembly’s press gallery for media persons.

She said that it is a highly condemnable act of the PTI government.

She said that the government is trying to impose a ban on media and freedom of speech in the country and the Pakistan Peoples Party has already rejected the PMDA.

She further said that Pakistan’s famous comedian Umar Sharif repeatedly appealed to the prime minister for his treatment but he did nothing for him, while the Sindh government sent its representative to Umar Sharif’s house to inquire after his health. “The Sindh government has sanctioned Rs40 million for his treatment from the USA.” Shazia Marri said a PTI federal minister claimed that he would burn the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) because the ECP raised its objections on the use of electronic voting machines.

“We strongly condemn such things against ECP.”

While talking about the PDM, she said that Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari laid the foundation of the PDM but contrary to Bilawal’s wish, some parties did not want to come out openly against the government. She said the PTI has lost its senses and is confused due to Bilawal’s visit of South Punjab. On this occasion, Faisal Karim Kundi said that the upcoming local body election would be a test for all political parties and the current PTI government is running away from the local body elections, while the supporters of the PML-N and the PTI are joining the PPP.
