ISLAMABAD: Nepra Chairman Tauseef H Farooqi along with members of the Authority, Rafique Ahmad Shaikh and Engr Maqsood Anwar Khan Friday visited various facilities of K-Electric (KE) to get apprised about KE's multiple initiatives in respect of provision of uninterrupted power supply to the consumers and uplift of the marginalized segments of society in the KE service territory.
The Authority visited the Distribution Network Academy and a fully automated "Distribution and SCADA Control Centre" wherein they were briefed and demonstrated about training and development of KE distribution employees, measures for controlling the Transmission and Distribution losses and supply of quality and reliable power.
Nepra allows KE to hike tariff
KE also gave the Authority a presentation on the benefits of paperless billing that they had recently introduced for their consumers and also demonstrated about Grid Insulation System (GIS). The initiatives of KE were appreciated, however, it was made clear that no compromise on provision of reliable and safe power supply will be made. The Authority directed KE to ensure effective supervision at job sites so that the consumers and employees stay safe. The Authority also showed great concern on delay in completion of 900 MW Bin Qasim Power Station 3 (BQPS-III) Project and discussed the current progress and the new completion date, which KE confirmed as November 30, 2021.
Later on, the Authority attended the signing ceremony of UN Global Compact followed by launching ceremony of KE's Covid-19 vaccination vans. The Authority also witnessed the graduation ceremony of the "First Women Electricians", an extension of Roshni Baji Program launched by Chairman Nepra in February of this year, to enhance gender-diversity in Pakistan's power sector and to achieve UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Chairman Nepra highlighted on this occasion that Nepra, in accordance with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) drive of "Power with Prosperity", will ensure an inclusive development model in the power sector of the country.
