KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) handled 394,664 tonnes of cargo comprising 257,773 tonnes of import cargo and 136,891 tonnes of export cargo during last 48 hours ending on Monday.
The total import cargo of 257,773 comprised of 142,248 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 8,178 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 27,007 tonnes of DAP, 1,145 Tons of Sugar, 17,734 tonnes of Wheat and 61,461 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.
The total export cargo of 136,891 tonnes comprised of 79,547 tonnes of containerized cargo, 16,712 tonnes of Cement, 25,010 tonnes of Clinkers, 11,322 tonnes of Talc Powder & 4,300 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.
Approximately, 9913 containers comprising of 6229 containers import and 3684 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1880 of 20's and 1937 of 40's loaded while 17 of 20's and 229 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 958 of 20's and 1195 of 40's loaded containers while 28 of 20's and 154 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Nearly 12 ships namely, Medi Tirreno, Berlin Express, Cosco Aden, Oel Kedarnath, Adventure, Ch Cella, Ariana, Teera Bhum, California Trader, Sea Elegant, Mtm Tokyo and Medi Portland have berth at Karachi Port on Monday.
About 12 ships namely, Ever Dainty, Ps Trieste, Northern Dedication, Xin Shanghai, Talassa, Glen Canyon, Msc Patnaree III, Seahan Wallaby, Ginga Saker, Scirocco, Ch Bella and MT Karachi have sailed out from Karachi Port on the same day. Some 09 cargos namely, STI Excel, TORM ARAWA, AL Soor 11, FMT GUMULDUR, OOCL, CHARLESTON, LEO PARAMOUNT, TAURUS LEADER, Uranus J and Arawana were expected to arrive on the same day.
