Petitions against hike in POL items' prices: SHC seeks comprehensive reply from federal govt
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) Monday sought a comprehensive reply from federal government on petitions filed against the increase in the prices of petroleum products.
A division bench of SHC asked the federal government what is the mechanism to fix the petroleum prices in the domestic market as well as what is the rationale of taxes on per litre of petroleum products in the country.
Court asked federal government to submit the details of reasons, which are considered to make the increase in the prices of petroleum products.
Court sought the details in the multiple petitions, which have been filed in SHC since June 2019 till date.
Court, seeking a comprehensive reply from the federal government, adjourned the hearing of these petitions till October 25, 2021.
