ISLAMABAD: The Government has decided to deploy three companies of Rangers to provide security to the camps of UAE rulers in Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan on their hunting expedition to Pakistan.

On October 5, 2021, Ministry of Interior briefed the Federal Cabinet that the Home Department, Government of Punjab had stated that a team of Arab dignitaries from UAE was visiting Pakistan for hunting expedition comprising of Shelkh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, President of UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Hamadan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai/ Minister of Finance and Industries of UAE. They would visit Rajanpur, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and RY Khan for the hunting expedition.

In this regard, it was requested by Home Department, Government of Punjab that three Companies with Wing Headquarters of Rangers (Punjab) be immediately made available for deployment till March 31, 2022, for protection of UAE dignitaries and their camps under Section 4(2) & 5 of Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 & under Section 7(b) and Section 10 of Pakistan Rangers Ordinance, 1959.

The Prime Minister, Imran Khan, who recently scrapped his visit to UAE and dispatched President Dr ArifAvli had desired that the matter should be placed before the Cabinet for consideration.

Interior Ministry, in its summary sought approval of the Cabinet under Rule 17(1)(a) of the Rules of Business 1973 for deployment of 03 Companies with Wing Headquarters of Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) for security/ protection of UAE dignitaries and their camps under Section 4(2) and Section 5 of Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 (as amended) and under Section 7(b) and Section 10 of Pakistan Rangers with immediate effect till March 31, 2022, for protection of UAE dignitaries and their camps.

On October 5, 2021, the Cabinet considered the summary titled 'Requisition of three Companies with a Wing Headquarter of Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) during the visit of UAE - Dignitaries to Pakistan for hunting expedition' dated 4th October, 2021, submitted by the Interior Ministry and approved the proposal. The Cabinet also authorized the Cabinet Secretary to issue the decision of the summary without waiting for the formal approval of the minutes .
