KARACHI: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Bureau of Supply and Prices Dr Khatu Mil Jeewan has said that more than 23,000 profiteers and hoarders have been fined more than Rs4 crore since January 2021 this year, while from January 2020 to December 31, 23955 profiteers and hoarders were fined more than Rs40 million.
This he said while quoting the data of the performance report submitted by the department. He said that orders have already been issued to the Divisional Commissioners to ensure sale of essential commodities at government rates.
Dr Khatu Mal Jeewan further directed that the Price Control Magistrates should ensure its implementation in their respective jurisdictions in all cases. Dr Khatu Mal Jeewan directed the officers of Bureau of Supply and Prices to conduct surprise check of prices in the markets along with the district administration. Dr Khatu Mal Jeewan while giving clear instructions to the district administration said that illegitimate profiteers should not be left out at all.
