The superior courts and army have both shown extraordinary tolerance towards an "incompetent government", Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Friday. Addressing a press conference in connection with the joining of former Nazims from Gujrat, he predicted the collapse of the PPP-PML-Q alliance in the near future.
He said differences within PPP's own ranks had surfaced, adding that these rifts would deepen with the passage of time. The PPP leadership, he said, had failed to take a decision over the defunct National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). Cracks, he said, had also emerged between the Presidency and PPP leaders over the issue of writing a letter to Swiss courts.
Criticising former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani for threatening to launch a train march if the Supreme Court ruled against the current Prime Minister, he said that it was a conspiracy against the democratic system. Terming the former prime minister's remarks defiance of the Constitution, he said that elections should be held quickly, as the rulers had failed to address issues facing the country.
Qureshi said that they would not accept an interim government if all political parties were not consulted. Referring to the terrorist attack on PAF's Kamra airbase and killing of innocent civilians in the Babasur area near Mansehra, he said that the government had no writ in the country.
Meanwhile, addressing an Iftar party, PTI's vice-chairman said that the rulers were least worried about people's problems, adding that they were just busy protecting their rule. He also said that the party would hold a peace march on August 26, adding that domestic and foreign human rights organisations will participate in it. According to him, PTI would organise a national youth conference in October this year.
