The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has chalked out a comprehensive strategy to carry out a city-wide malaria/dengue control fumigation campaign. The strategy for fumigation drive was prepared in the meeting held with Senior Director Municipal Services Dr Shaukat Zaman in chair, on the directives of KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed, said a statement issued here on Friday.
The meeting was attended by Director Machine Pool Nauman Arshad, Director Municipal Health Dr Mansoor Shaikh, Director Municipal Public Health Dr Hamid Mustafa and other officers. They decided that immediate de-grassing, canalisation of all drains and sprinkling of fenthian be carried out to control the breeding of mosquitoes. All the malaria control incharges will be directed to submit the progress report on a daily basis. The fumigation campaign presently underway in Karachi will be monitored by a senior officer of Municipal Services, the Municipal Commissioner or Administrator of concerned District.
A public awareness campaign will also be carried out through the installation of banners and hoardings and distribution of pamphlets. Senior Director Municipal Services asked the citizens to lodge their complaints of no spray in their area on 1339 so that spray could be performed in the concerned area on immediate basis.
