Thousands on Friday marked Al-Quds Day in the city, calling for independence of Palestine and end to the Israeli repression in the occupied territory. Law enforcers took strict security measures to protect the participants of the Al-Quds rally, marching on different roads of the city to show solidarity with Palestinian people.
Shia Ulema Council Pakistan took the rally from Regal Chowk to Karachi Press Club and Imamia Student Organisation from Nomaish Chowrangi to Tibet Centre. They had flags of different colours, banners and placards inscribed with slogans. The marchers were chanting anti-US and anti-Israel slogans and demanding the UN for the independence of Palestine from the shackles of Israel. Flags of the US and Israel were also burnt in protest. The Al-Quds Day is observed in different parts of the world mainly by the Muslims to show their solidarity and support to cause of oppressed Palestinians.
