A cargo volume of 88,323 tonnes comprising 74,538 tonnes of import cargo and 13,785 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,738 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 74,538 tonnes includes 50,854 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 295 tonnes of project cargo; 4,733 tonnes of fertiliser and 10,666 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,785 tonnes includes 1,104 tonnes of cement; 1,658 tonnes of wheat and 11,023 tonnes of containerised cargo. One ship namely MV BBC Emsland carrying project cargo sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while another ship namely CV Lantau Arrow with containers is expected to sail on Saturday morning. A total number of ten vessels viz CV MSC Clementina, CV Dubai Express, CV MSC Jamima, CV Lantau Arrow, MV Ahmed Arab, MT Genuine Galaxy, MT Al-Salam-II, MV BBC Emsland, MV K Coral and MV Genius Mariner are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, project cargo, urea, furnace oil, diesel oil and wheat respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely Olympic Spirit, Genie, MT Lahore, Hector, SFL Kent and Millennium Park with furnace oil, cement, corn and phosphoric acid respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Three ships namely MT Genie, CV Hector and MV Millennium Park carrying furnace oil, cement and phosphoric acid respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
