KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 425,957 tonnes of cargo comprising 261,683 tonnes of import cargo and 164,274 tonnes of export cargo during last 48 hours ending at 0700 Hours.
The total import cargo of 261,683 comprised of 116,372 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 9,565 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 50 tonnes of Iron & Steel Scrap, 15,810 tonnes of Rock Phosphate, 15,092 tonnes of Wheat, 8,645 tonnes of Yellow Soya Bean Seeds and 96,149 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.
The total export cargo of 164,274 Tons comprised of 102,463 tonnes of containerized cargo, 1,129 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 17,451 tonnes of Cement, 18,998 tonnes of Clinkers and 24,233 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.
As many as, 8722 containers comprising of 4181 containers import and 4541 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 906 of 20’s and 1337 of 40’s loaded while 27 of 20’s and 287 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1213 of 20’s and 939 of 40’s loaded containers while 334 of 20’s and 558 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Some 10 ships namely, Gfs Pearl, Mol Genesis, Sino Bridge, Actuaria, northern dedication, Independent Spirit, Teera Bhum, Hanne Danica, Hamburg Highway and Hyundai Shanghai have berth at Karachi Port.
Nearly, 09 ships Grace, Oel Kedarnath, Hyundai Bangkok, Yanian Express, Gfs Pearl, Sino Bridge, MT Quetta, Mol Genesis and Actuaria have sailed out from Karachi Port.
About 09 cargoes, namely MT Lahore, OOCL Zhoushan, Xin Yantian, Kota Nilam Wadi Bini Khalid, Shiling, Tarlan, Szczecin Trader and Lorentos were expected to arrive on the same day.
PORT QASIM
PQA berths were engaged by 09 ships during the last 24 hours, out of them, five ships, Cape Marin, Phoenix–K, Aristar Chos, Alicia and Venture Harmony are expected to sail from QICT, MW-2, FOTCO, FAP and PIBT on today in the afternoon.
Cargo throughput of 175,086, tonnes, comprising 148,736 tonnes imports cargo and 26,350 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 1,760 Containers (210 TEUs Imports and 1,550 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.
There are 10 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them, four ships, African Kita, Al-Aamriya, Kita and MSC Michaela, & three more ships, MSC Jasmine, MOL Genesis and Maersk Brooklyn scheduled to load/offload Cement, Natural gas and Containers are expected to take berths at MW-2, PGPCL, EETL and QICT on Monday, 3rd January-2021, while another container vessel ‘Maersk Columbus’ is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday, 4th January-2022.
