ISLAMABAD: The private security companies in Pakistan are not only sharing the burden of law enforcement agencies to protect citizens and businesses but also contributing to national exchequer and creating employment in the country.

Talking to Business Recorder here on Tuesday, Muhammad Irshad Ali, Chairman SOS Pakistan Pvt Ltd stated that the private security companies in Pakistan had sought tax relief from the government in coming budget (2022-23) through revised taxation enabling the industry to further invest and create more jobs.

The company had introduced the idea of Lady Security Guards, complying with the dictum of gender equality with the firm realization that women were no less than men in any field of life, he maintained.

He urged the government’s financial team to facilitate the private security industry with some tax relief through revised taxation for the industry as the industry was not only sharing the burden of law enforcement but also playing a key role in increasing the job market. The tax relief from the government would help industry to further invest in the sector to make the industry more resilient and investment friendly, he added.

He informed that the company believes in following the highest international standards while keeping our teams up to date and vigilant. The private security companies play vital role to provide jobs to unskilled labour.

To a query, he said the tax relief from government can help bring investment in private security industry.

He said that more than 500 private security companies working in Pakistan and hardly half of them were fully active while approximately only 10 percent of the total private security companies were fully equipped with relevant resources, technology and expertise to fulfill the needs of businesses in public as well private sector.

Commenting on the skill set of private security guards, Chairman Irshad Ali explained that SOS Pakistan hired unskilled and semi-skilled people of the country and played a role in decreasing the unemployment in the country.

He said “usually we hire people with a background of forces and other law enforcement agencies that help us utilize their expertise and experience to better handle security situations. Even knowing all the details of the resource before hiring, we still provide training to newly inducted staff to make them more relevant to the private public setups,” he added.

SOS Pakistan has a well-equipped security training school in Multan that provides the security training and arranges special sessions for staff members and businesses across Pakistan.

About the current wage structure, chairman SOS informed that “being a responsible operator, we do follow all the national and provincial laws on wage rate and we do not discriminate against any individual because we believe that compromising on wage rate will eventually compromise the quality of our services.”

He further stated that SOS Pakistan was making new strides in cash processing solutions by inducting the latest counting and processing machines and retaining the status of pioneer and leader in the field of currency management system in the private sector.

Talking about gender equality in the private security industry, he stated that SOS Pakistan proudly introduced the idea of lady security guards, complying with the dictum of gender equality with the firm realization that women were no less than men in any field of life. “Lady guard force, that we provide, is thoroughly trained and coached at our ratified training centres where they are taught the basics of security duty, weapon-handling, medical assistance, rules of engagement and response to emergent situations.”

Keeping in view the growing requirements of the banks and financial institutions to switch over to machine sorted bank notes for its customers and ATM’s, the company has extended its services in cash processing solutions. We have recently developed a state of the art automated currency centre with highly secure latest cash processing plants in Lahore. It offers one window solution by providing 24-hour services to its clients who wish to utilize our vault/safe house. This establishment build by SOS is fire & bomb proof, earthquake absorbent up-to 10 rector scale and is protected by three-layer fool proof security. It has the capacity to keep in vault around Rs 2 billion and 100 lockers to support and facilitate the financial institutions to hold and secure their surplus cash valuables, Muhammad Irshad Ali added.
