ISLAMABAD: After some 24 PTI Members National Assembly were found staying at Sindh House – a lodging facility only for MPs belonging to Sindh – Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary on Thursday hinted at imposing Governor’s Rule in Sindh for alleged horse trading by the PPP in a bid to pass the no-trust move against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Speaking at a presser along with PTI secretary general Asad Umar and Minister for Industries Hammad Azhar shortly after 24 PTI MPs were found at Sindh House, he said that the proposal has been given by the Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, and “we are certainly going to discuss this”.

He said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) provincial government has crossed all the limits of decency in buying and selling peoples’ votes, adding Sheikh, as an interior minister and an important coalition partner, has advised the prime minister to go for a governor’s rule in Sindh.

Issuing a strict warning to the MNAs violating the party policy, he added, all the turncoats came out from Sindh House out of fear when the government warned of action.

He said that the government would not go for any kind of horse trading and bargaining or blackmailing over distribution of ministries, saying nothing like is going to happen as Imran Khan believes in politics of principles.

Govt firms up strategy to counter no-trust move

“What we are seeing today in form of horse trading is a business model of Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari…this model started in 1990s and now the time has come the people will bury this decade of darkness,” he added.

He said that workers of the PTI are up in arms, but we have urged them to stay calm and cool, adding March 28 public gathering will prove to be the last nail in the coffin of the opposition’s ‘corrupt’ politics.

He said that a woman lawmaker was given Rs7 Crore by the opposition and Sindh House has been turned into a Changa Manga and selling and buying of mules is going on.

He said that then government will take action against all the members involved in selling of votes under Article 63A (1) of defection clause like PTI did against its members’ provincial assembly Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in 2018 senate elections.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said that the interior minister has floated the proposal of imposing governor’s rule in Sindh, and it will be discussed. He said that the prime minister will continue to stand by his principles as people of the country voted him to power for his principles.

He said that Imran Khan’s politics is for the sake of the nation and not for himself, adding as a prime minister he can do anything as he has all the options but he would not stoop low like Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif.

He reiterated that ahead of the no-confidence motion Imran Khan stands against horse-trading by the opposition, adding the only difference between the PTI and the opposition is that they are using the name of democracy for their illegitimate practices, including blackmailing, and horse-trading, among others.

“PM Khan neither blackmails anyone nor does he gets blackmailed like other political leaders…all actions and decisions of the PTI will be taken according to the Constitution of Pakistan,” he maintained.

He reiterated that ahead of the no-confidence motion Imran Khan stands against horse-trading by the opposition, adding ‘the sea of people’ on March 28 will makes things clear as who stand by whom.

He acknowledged that the government is constantly in touch with opposition lawmakers to get their support in the ongoing no-confidence motion against the prime minister, but “we will not bribe them like Zardari, as they will be supporting the prime minister for his honesty”.

Hammad Azhar said that the corrupt system of horse trading, against which a man named Imran Khan has been fighting from day one, will not stand. The government will stay in touch with its allies, he added.

“We will not bow down before a tiny pressure group, and the politics of horse trading will be completely buried on March 28 by Imran Khan,” he declared.
