KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued fresh directives for the quarterly reporting of Green Banking Statistics.

According to a circular for all scheduled banks, Statistics and Data Warehouse Department (SDWD) State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has decided to collect subject data on quarterly basis as per provided template which is also available on Data Acquisition Portal (DAP) Knowledge Centre (under Money and Banking).

SBP has advised all banks, MFBs and DFIs to submit the Green Banking quarterly data for the quarters ended on December 2021 and March 31, 2022 through email within 20 days. Going forward, this should be submitted on quarterly basis within 15 days of close of reporting quarter. In case of no such data, banks and DFIs are required to report of Nil statement.

Banks have been asked to develop a mechanism and layer to check and verify, before submission on due date to Statistics and Data Warehouse Department, that all data are prepared according to the relevant guidelines. It may be mentioned here that with a view to safeguarding against environmental risks emerging from banks and DFIs’ businesses and operations, in October 2017, SBP issued Green Banking Guidelines (GBG) wherein senior management of the banks is entrusted to install systems for data generation and collection for compilation of meaningful statistics on green banking.
