Coalition partners of Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) have demanded of the government to immediately withdraw the recent increase in prices of petroleum products.
ANP's Spokesperson Zahid Khan pointed out that his party had submitted an adjournment motion in the Senate Secretariat over the previous hike in prices of petroleum products and said that Petroleum Minister Dr Asim Hussain had been advised to resign.
He said that if Dr Asim Hussain could not properly run the ministry, he should quit. He said that the weekly rise in prices of petroleum products was victimising the people. Urging the government to withdraw the hike, he said that otherwise, his party would protest in the Senate.
The spokesperson for the PML-Q also rejected the hike in POL prices and said that the inflated fuel prices were unaffordable. He said that the government had not taken PML-Q into confidence over the price revision. He said the only way to react over the increase in price of petroleum products and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) was protest.
