Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that as a result of eight-month long government efforts and vigorous cooperation by the citizens, the dengue virus situation is under control so far, and however, there is still need for continuous monitoring and continuation of present effective steps to overcome the issue.
He expressed these views while leading an anti-dengue awareness walk from Lahore Fort main gate to Iqbal Park, here on Sunday.
Secretary Sports, officers and officials of Auqaf and Tourism departments, representatives of NGOs and a large number of Labourers participated in the anti-dengue walk. The participants displayed banners and played cards with anti-dengue slogans inscribed on them.
Talking to the media representatives, Khajwaja Salman Rafique said "Under the dynamic leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, we would have to defeat the dengue virus, by not getting afraid from it, but by combating it."
He said that the government enjoys vigorous cooperation by the people in its anti-dengue campaign, while the media has performed an exemplary service in creating greater awareness among the general public in this regard.
He said that the government, people's elected representatives, members of the civil society are united in their campaign to rid the province of dengue menace and, with grace of Allah, the government would achieve this aim with a thumping success.
Meanwhile, Secretary Health Punjab Arif Nadeem on Sunday paid a visit to DHQ Hospital Sheikhupura in connection with anti-dengue campaign, and reviewed arrangements made for the dengue patients, along with inspecting the High Dependency Units (HBUs). Special Secretary Health Punjab, Dawood Muhammad Bareach also visited DHQ hospital Kasur to oversee the sanitation campaign against the dengue virus and arrangements made for dengue patients.
