Fire stops flights temporarily at DC airports

Flights at three Washington-area airports were briefly stopped because of a fire at a regional air traffic control facility. Flights were stopped for about 25 minutes Sunday morning at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport; Dulles International Airport; and Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration says a refrigerator caught fire in an office area at an air traffic control facility for the Washington area. The FAA says the outage affected fewer than 20 flights. Kimberly Gibbs, a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, says the flights were stopped about 9 am.
