Tax deduction from salary by employer: date for filing of annual statements extended to September 10
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the date for filing of annual statements of deduction of income tax from salary, filed by employer up to September 10, 2012. In this connection, the FBR has issued an income tax circular number 5 of 2012 here on Tuesday.
According to the circular, in exercise of the powers conferred under section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, FBR has extended the date for filing of income tax returns/statements for the Tax Year 2012 as under: Firstly, the date of filing of returns of total income through e-portal in case of salaried persons or a statement required under sub-section (4) of Section 115 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 due on August 31, 2012, is extended to September 30, 2012. Secondly, date of filing of annual statement of deduction of income tax from salary, filed by employer, as provided in sub section (3) of Section 118 of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, is extended to September 10, 2012, the FBR added.
