LAHORE: The Regional Tax Office (RTO) Lahore has recovered Rs42 million as arrears of income tax through attachment of bank accounts, said sources.
They said the RTO has already recovered Rs35.5 million separately during the current fiscal year. It may be noted that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had set up committees at the level of RTOs for recovery through attachment of bank accounts. These committees were set up back in October.
The sources from the RTO said the committee meets daily with the Chief Commissioner in the chair to select cases for recovery purposes. According to them, the recovery drive is moving successfully as the RTO has got registered two First Information Reports (FIRs) so far against the management of banks, not cooperating with for recovery purposes. Also, they said, the Chief Commissioner RTO was himself monitoring the recovery drive in order to achieve the recovery target set by the Board for the current fiscal year.
