KARACHI: All Tajiran Sindh Ittehad on Tuesday slammed the PML-N led federal coalition government for “stifling” inflation, saying that the “wrong” economic policies have crippled trade and industry.
At an emergency meeting of office-bearers, Chairman, All Tajiran Sindh Ittehad Muhammad Kashif Sabrani deplored the government’s move to shoot up petroleum products prices that have led to a soaring inflation.
“The continuing petroleum products prices’ hike has ravaged the trade and industry,” he observed, saying that the government should avoid imposing its “wrong” policies on traders.
The PML-N government’s wrong economic policies have brought the economy into tatters, hurting the poor severely, he said adding that trade is faced with inflationary problems.
He said that the small traders reject the hike in petroleum products prices that spurs a new wave of inflation in the country, hitting industrialists, traders and general public the most.
Resultantly, he said, the wrong economic policy boosted food inflation along with rising cost of medicines. He said that the general public is unable to fight the inflation.
The meeting, which Kashif Sabrani chaired, demanded of the government to provide relief to industrialists and traders.
The government should also revisit its economic policy to bring down the surging inflation, besides stepping up to extend a subsidy on petroleum products to the nation, it demanded.
All Tajiran Sindh Ittehad also gave a 72-hour ultimatum to the government for revisiting its policy, saying that a new line of action will be drawn afterwards.
