The government on Friday announced a 15% increase in salaries of its employees while merging adhoc allowance with the basic salary as well.

In a tweet, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has rejected the Finance Ministry’s proposal of a 10% increase, and instead, approved an increase in government employees’ salaries of 15% with the consent of the cabinet.

“Also merging of adhoc allowances into the basic pay is approved,” she added.

On Friday, Miftah Ismail, the finance czar, unveiled the federal budget with a total outlay of Rs9.5 trillion in the National Assembly, targeting economic growth of at least 5% during fiscal year 2022-23.

Tax on banking sector enhanced to 42% from 39%, says Miftah while announcing budget proposals

The budget comes at a time when Pakistan’s economy remains engulfed in a balance of payments' crisis, and remains engaged in talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) over revival of the stalled Extended Fund Facility (EFF).

On Thursday, Miftah on the sidelines of the Economic Survey 2021-22's launching ceremony, had said that the government will raise salaries of its employees.

"We should understand that government employees have to run their households as well," said Miftah when asked the question by a journalist on Thursday.

"It cannot be the case that as the country sees 12-15% inflation we don’t raise the salaries of government employees," said Miftah.

Humble Request Increase of only 5% pension is absolutely injustice with the pensioners. They are equally suffered from high inflation in the country. After retirement, pensioners have been facing great hardship due to increase in house rent, high rates of all stuff & food items etc, they cannot afford education expenses of their children what to talk of medicines etc. Foregoing in view, the Prime Minister of Pakistan is humbly requested to look into the matter and to increase 15% pension to avoid inconvenience of the pensioners as well please

RPS is justified but it totally injustice with employees of same Cader those get retirement that previous govt didn't give any thing in last 03 budgets. So max employees going to retired get extension in service and later LPR. In this way both said employees benefited with salary pkg increase and Huge Commutation benefit. My request is to think and order to implement RPS wef .1 July, 2021.

An increase of 15% in salary for Federal Govt employees and 5% in pension (excluding 10% already allowed to pensioners in March 2022) has been announced in Budget 2022-23. It is highlighted that Federal Govt Employees who retired between Apr - Jun 2022 could not get 10% increase for pensioners (as they were in active service in March/April 2022) and also being deprived from 15% increase w.e.f. 1st July 2022 (as they have been now retired from service). It is requested that Finance Division may look into the matter so that the Federal Govt Employees (retired from service between Apr - Jun 22) may not be deprived of Budget 2022-23 benefits. Thanks.

@Babar Naqvi, For ur kind information only Federal Governmnt employees have obtained 10% raise in their pension, the Provincial Govrnmnt employees have not received any raise in their pension....therefore, they are demanding 15 % raise in their pension.
