The Lahore High Court here on Thursday reserved its verdict in a petition challenging the use of title of "my lord" for judges and bowing before them during the court proceedings. The petitioner A K Dogar submitted that on November 06, 1980 president's order number 15 was promulgated in pursuance of a meeting attended by the chief justices of the superior courts.
He submitted that the use of the expressions 'my lord' and 'your lordship' and the like, in relation to a judge shall be discontinued and he shall only be addressed as 'sir' or 'janab-e-wala' or 'janab-e-aali. Dogar contended that there is an element of slavish mentality which prompts us to follow the line of our erstwhile rulers.
