Apropos a news item carried by Business Recorder, EOBI has clarified that there has been a miscommunication of facts in the said news item: "None of the EOBI properties, whether building or open plot, have ever been occupied by workers of any political party in any city. All EOBI properties are protected and secured by proper security guards.
"The audit para being discussed in the PAC pertained to the audit report 2004-05 that audited the period prior to 2001 when the Awami Markaz was in the possession of Civic Center Company Limited. When EOBI got the possession of the building, these arrears were already pending. Thereafter, EOBI started to trace out the defaulters and by present day, Arrears amounting to Rs 7.35 million have already been recovered.
The Receivables standing at Rs 2.9 million are also being recovered in instalments. At present, pending cases, wherefrom arrears of 0.226 million have not been recovered for their being sub judice in the court. "The above facts had been mentioned in the same agenda items; however, the PAC was adjourned before it could complete the agenda. "The total recovery position of EOBI from rentals is enclosed," the clarification concluded.
