An elderly woman died of Dengue fever here on Thursday. This was stated by the focal person of the Dengue Surveillance Cell. The death occurred at a local hospital the other day, he added. The Sindh Health Minister, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, has expressed sorrow and grief on the demise of the woman. In a statement, he said that owing to rains in Sindh it is also feared that various diseases may spread.
The minister was of the view that steps were needed on emergent basis to tackle the situation. He directed that measures be taken in all the hospitals for the provision of treatment. Dr Sagheer said that a place be allocated in the hospitals for the Dengue patients. He also directed that cleanliness be maintained and spray be carried out. The minister directed medical superintendents of the hospitals and town health officers to make arrangements at the hospitals to deal with any situation that may arise.
