The Karachi Port handled 99,736 tonnes of cargo comprising 69,284 tonnes of import cargo and 30,452 tonnes of export cargo including 3,012 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 69,284 tonnes comprised of 8,382 tonnes of containerised cargo; 19,740 tonnes of coal and 41,162 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 30,452 tonnes comprised of 21,243 tonnes of containerised cargo; 555 tonnes of general cargo; 624 tonnes of bulk cargo: and 234 tonnes of cement; 390 tonnes of sugar and 8,030 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. A total number of 3,012 containers comprising 480 containers import and 2,532 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The brake up of imported containers shows 268 of 20's and 106 of 40's of loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 570 of 20's and 499 of 40's loaded containers while and 58 of 20's 453 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Six ships namely Royal Crystal-7, Fotini Lady, MT Karachi, Apulia, Cape Verdi and Thai Long carrying three oil tankers, two container ships and one bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Five vessels viz Alpine Melina, Al-Kividas, Zeynep A, Medi Shanghai and Jmsdf Kashima with three oil tankers, one bulk cargo ship and one naval ship respectively are currently at the berths.
One oil tanker namely Zeynep A sailed out to sea on Friday, while three ships namely Alpine Melina, Al-Kividas and Naxihe with two oil tankers and one container ship respectively are expected to sail on Saturday. Five vessels viz BSL India Express, Wan Hai-601, Asian Trader, UASC Shuwaikh and Clipper Golfito carrying four container ships and one ethanol ship respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while three vessels viz ELO Perdana, Jolly and Angelina the Grate-N with two container ships and one rock phosphate carrier respectively are due to arrive on Sunday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 61,662 tonnes comprising 34,513 tonnes of import cargo and 27,149 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,064 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 34,513 tonnes includes 13,914 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,100 tonnes of palm oil and 17,499 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 27,149 tonnes includes 3,983 tonnes of cement; 1,449 tonnes of corn and 21,717 tonnes of containerised cargo. A total number of 2,064 containers comprising 1,014 containers import and 1,050 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
Two ships namely CV CMA CGM Amber and MT Chemroad Vega carrying containers and palm oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CV Hammonia Pacificum with containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of seven vessels viz CV CMA CGM Amber, CV Hammonia Pacificum, MV Sapphire-II, MV AMS Pegasus-II, MV Ananya Naree, MT Ocean Mercury and MT Chemroad Vega are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, corn, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely MSC Scotland, Akaki, STX Force and Al-Kuwaitah with containers, furnace oil, palm oil and diesel oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of six vessels viz CV MSC Scotland, CV MSC Sina, CV Asian Trader, MT STX Force, MV Bhai Ravi and MT Al-Kuwaitah with containers, palm oil, chemicals and diesel oil respectively are expected to take berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
