HAMBURG: Leading South Korean feedmaker Nonghyup Feed Inc. (NOFI) has issued an international tender to purchase up to 130,000 tonnes of animal feed wheat, European traders said on Tuesday. The deadline for submission of price offers in the tender is July 6.

The wheat in NOFI’s tender is sought in two consignments of 45,000 to 65,000 tonnes from optional origins, but Argentina, Pakistan, Denmark and China are excluded as sources.

The first consignment is sought for arrival in South Korea around Aug. 10. The sellers are asked to offer shipment options in this period from the United States Pacific Northwest coast, US Gulf, Australia, Canada, Europe, South America, India or South Africa. The second shipment is sought for arrival around Oct 5.

If sourced from the US Pacific Northwest coast, Australia or Canada, shipment is sought for Sept. 2-21. If sourced from the US Gulf or Europe, shipment is sought for Aug. 13-Sept. 1. If from South America for Aug. 3-22, from South Africa for Aug. 18-Sept. 6 or from India for Aug. 28-Sept. 16.

Importer buying interest in wheat has risen after US wheat futures on Friday fell to levels not seen since before war in Ukraine disrupted grain exports from the Black Sea region. Egypt’s state grains buyer GASC is believed to have bought around 444,000 tonnes of wheat directly from trading houses on Monday.
