Steadier trend was seen on the currency market on Saturday as the rupee retained its overnight levels against the dollar in process of trading, dealers said. For the second day in a row, the rupee maintained a firm posture against the dollar for buying and selling at 94.70 and 94.90, they said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: While the rupee dropped by 90-paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 120.40 and Rs 121.40. At the week-end, the euro touched a near four-month peak against the dollar after a report showed a smaller-than-expected rise in US non-farm payrolls in August, setting the stage for the Federal Reserve to pump additional money into the sluggish economy.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee showed stability on buying side while it lost five-paisa on selling side in relation to the greenback on the local currency market on Saturday. According to the currency dealers, the dollar commenced trading at its Friday closing of Rs 94.75 and Rs 94.95 as its buying and selling rates, respectively. The dollar witnessed marginal fluctuation in its value and was closed at Rs 94.75 and Rs 95.00 on buying and selling counters, respectively.
The rupee could not get out of the continued pressure and was further declined against the British pound. The pound's buying and selling rates were improved from overnight closing of Rs 150.00 and Rs 150.50 to Rs 150.30 and Rs 151.00, respectively, the dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Saturday. The dollar opened at Rs 94.20 (buying) and Rs 94.30 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 94.20 (buying) and Rs 94.30 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 146 (buying) and Rs 146.50 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 146 (buying) and Rs 146.50 (selling).
