LAHORE: On the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Punjab government has started work to establish Sialkot Industrial Estate on an area of 10,442 kanal within three months.
As many as 10,441 kanal and 13 marlas land had been acquired in Tehsil Sambrial, Zafarwali, Ghazipur and Sahowala. According to the official documents, the chairman Planning and Development Board wrote a letter to the secretary Industries, Commerce, & Investment Skills Development Department to take necessary measures for the establishing the Sialkot Industrial Estate.
In pursuance of the PM’s directions, the National Engineering Services of Pakistan (NESPAK) has been engaged as consultant and mobilised at site for completing the assignment within the assigned timeline.
The Punjab Industrial Estates Development & Management Company (PIEDMC) has been directed to constitute “Special Initiatives Committee” of the Board of Directors (BoDs). The meeting of the Special Initiatives Committee was held under the chairman of PIEDMC and various problems regarding establishment of Sialkot Industrial Estate were discussed.
It was further decided to convey the Deputy Commissioner Sialkot “to assist and coordinate with the NESPAK team for survey, taking levels, making boreholes, and carrying out all acts to ascertain the suitability of the site for the purpose”, the official documents revealed.
The 155th meeting of Board of Directors of the Punjab Industrial Estates Development & Management Company will be held on Friday (today) in which decisions of the “Special Initiatives Committee” on the establishment of Sialkot Industrial Estates will be ratified.
