Rains in Sindh, Punjab: Federal, provincial governments responsible for heavy losses: APML

All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) has expressed deep sorrow over the physical and financial losses to people of Southern Punjab and Sindh due to heavy rains and held the federal and provincial governments of Punjab and Sindh responsible for all the losses.
The APML Secretary Information Aasia Ishaque said on Monday that governments are inefficient that was why huge losses occurred once again in 2012 despite losses in 2010 and 2011. She said that entering of rain water in DG Khan City is a clear example of inefficiency of Punjab government.
She said that Punjab government always played a role of step-mother with districts of southern Punjab that was why they were sleeping deeply and rain water was disturbing the comfort of people of DG Khan. Talking about situation in Sindh, she said, though the provincial government has declared rain emergency in the province but they didn't take measures to shift innocent rain-affected families to the safer places. She asked the government to take steps on war-footing basis and also guide the people that how they could be protected from the losses of heavy rains.
She recalled that after the super floods of 2010, Sindh government had utilised billions of rupees over the rehabilitation of Indus and non-Indus dykes but breaches in these dykes are telling us the stories of massive corruption. She said that recent heavy rains had destroyed the standing crops of millions of rupees in Sindh and southern Punjab. She said, "Government should come forward immediately to save people from further irreparable losses of heavy rains particularly shifting of rain victims to safer places."
