Rs 734.2 million projects for Prime Minister's constituency: PC convenes meeting of CDWP again
The Planning Commission has convened a special meeting of Central Working Party (CDWP) for the second time in a week on the directives of Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf to approve seven development projects worth over 734.2 million for his home town constituency, Tehsil Gujar Khan, it is learnt.
On Thursday, the first special meeting of the CDWP met on the directives of the Prime Minister and recommended to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) three projects at a total cost of Rs 18.72 billion; two out of the three estimated at a cost of Rs 6 billion are targeted for the Prime Minister's constituency. The CDWP also recommended one project for water resources.
The two projects for the Prime Minister's Constituency are: (i) Dualization of Sohawa to Chakwal Road (70 KM) Tehsil Gujar Khan costing Rs 3.3 billion; and (ii)Dualization of Mandra to Chakwal Road (64KM), Tehsil Gujar Khan valued at Rs 2.68 billion. Sources said that work on these projects has already started and paper work is being completed now. The Prime Minister, sources added, directed for completion of these projects in less than six month's time and prior to the forthcoming general elections.
On Monday the CDWP met again to approve six projects for the Prime Minister's constituency. Official documents available with Business Recorder reveal that CDWP met to approve six transport and Communication projects for Tehsil Gujar Khan. These projects include: (i) Widening/ Resurfacing of Roads from G.T Road to Behlote(12KM) Tehsil Gujar Khan at a cost of Rs 134 million, (ii) Widening/ Resurfacing of Roads from Daultala Sukhu to Gujar Khan G.T Road (20KM) in Tehsil Gujar Khan at an estimated cost of Rs 165 million, (iii) Widening/ Resurfacing of Roads from Dhoke Amb to Susral (8KM) Tehsil Gujar Khan at a total cost of Rs 89 million, (iv) Widening/ Resurfacing of Roads from Ratial Chowk to Chak Beli Khan Road (16KM) in Tehsil Gujar Khan, valued at Rs 94 million, (v)Widening/ Resurfacing of Roads from Rukh more via Pari to Sukho (10KM) Tehsil Gujar Khan at a cost of Rs 82 million, (vi) Widening/Resurfacing of Roads from Jabbar to Bewall (6.5 KM) in Tehsil Gujar Khan valued at Rs 90 million and (vii) Widening/Resurfacing of Roads from Tali More to Danda Machia (9KM) in Tehsil Gujar Khan valued at Rs 80.2 million.
The CDWP has also considered four other projects, two of them related to health and one each for water resources and science and technology. The Projects included Up-gradation of Centre for Nuclear medicine and Radiotherapy (CENAR), Quetta, Balochistan at an estimated cost of Rs 986.5 million, and construction of Sanam, Palai and Kundal Dam in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at a cost of Rs 825.779 million.
