Goods’ clearance: Customs implements PSW system at Karachi airport
KARACHI: Pakistan Customs has implemented the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) system for the clearance of inbound and outbound consignments at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP).
According to the details, the customs department has started a single declaration clearance for import and export consignments at JIAP.
Initially, the commercial exports (SB type) of Animal Quarantine Department (AQD) related commodities, which are being exported from JIAP, are now being cleared through the PSW system instead of WeBOC. The export consignments of commodities, which require health certificates will be completely shifted over to the PSW system and the clearance of said commodities will be subjected to the electronic issuance of health certificates by AQD through the filing of a single declaration.
Similarly, commercial imports (HC type) of Department of Plant and Protection (DPP) related commodities, which are being imported from JIAP, are now being cleared through the PSW system instead of WeBOC.
Initially, the import consignments of commodities, which do not require an import permit but only a release order will be completely shifted over to the PSW system and the clearance of the said commodities will be subjected to electronic issuance of release order by DPP through the filing of a single declaration.
The PSW is a newly launched trade system, which provides a facility for parties involved in trade and transport to lodge standardized information and documents with a single entry point to fulfill all import, export, and transit-related regulatory requirements.
